I work in the med spa industry in Texas, and 100% there is an infestation of illegal practices going on.
Also, I just wanted to correct: A “medical Director” is a doctor who oversees the practice. This protects the practice and the nurse, in the instance that an issue arises, or an injector needs assistance with a physician. Practices pay monthly for their medical directorship, and in Texas start at minimum of $1,000/ month. However, most of the time this doctor is not present during procedures or when injections are performed.
So technically an aesthetician could inject so long as they had supervision of a medical directorship.

When the FDA mentioned nose filler my jaw dropped at the thought people are using that for the nose! Nose filler is super dangerous and usually only doctors will do it, meanwhile nurses and PAs do other kinds of filler. You have to be a nurse first (even if you're under the supervision of a physician) before they let you get that certification. My face was FUCKKEDDDD up by a girl w a hyluronpen. Had to get 2 syringes of dissolver to help. The women who fixed me said i was lucky i didn't lose my tongue and lips. Meanwhile, I'm desperately messaging the girl who did asking for the product she injected me with so i can make sure the dissolver will work with it before i spent a k on it to fix it… girl REFUSED to tell me and stopped responding. Luckily it worked but the girl is still practices today and I cant shut up about how no one should be doing that shit

Please never go to a nurse practitioner for fillers or any injectables and go to a plastic surgeon. They actually know what they’re doing unlike NP who are trained for injecting vaccines
