They form a complete set, that can be used in many many ways, with acrylic paint, watercolor, polish, gel. I am using them mostly with waterbased acrylic paint, because it is much easier to apply and correct, and it does not ruin the bristles. Before you use any of your brushes with paint, make sure to dip them in water and remove excess on a paper towel. This will help the paint flow, and will also protect the bristles. I clean my brushes in water every now and then during a design, and right after I am finished, I clean them thoroughly with soapy water. If by accident, paint is left for more time, you can clean it with polish remover.
Please watch the following video from aoana15, to see the best way to clean and maintain your brushes in a good condition:

I could make a short review, telling you my opinion about this set of brushes, but I decided to show you instead. If you give them a try, you will see for yourselves that they are very comfortable to hold, the wooden handle feels steady and will not slip, and the bristles are soft and can follow your moves. I would suggest you try and practise with your own brushes, first on paper, but quickly move on to the nails, because polished nails have a glossy finish and not-so-flat surface:) You will have to find your way to use the brush, and see how the paint is holding on the nail (for example, if it is too watery, it will run, loose its form and shrink..)

Waterbased acrylic paints come in jars, or tubes, and you can find them in craftstores, school suppliers and nail related stores. Whichever you choose, remember that paint should be almost like a thick liquid, or ketchup (?) and not like a toothpaste concistency. If yours is thick, you should add water in it, to give it thinner viscosity. Adding more water than usual will help you make extra thin lines and details.

Thick or thin lines can be done with the same brushes. If you have more paint, or if you press the brush on the nail, then you get thicker lines. If your paint is watery, and you have no more than needed on the brush, hold it steady, press lightly, and you’ll get thinner lines.

I may have said too much, but I am only trying to help, so forgive me, and thank you for your time:)
Hugs,

Elena

  1. I forgot to ask you…. to make a design do I have to color the nail first and wait for some hours or so before I make the design on it? thanks again!
