The Healthy Skin Lab is a tinted moisturizer, not a dedicated SPF, does that make a difference in efficacy?

How about wearing just a tinted mineral sunscreen then a NICE bronzer for Summer and NO foundation that's the problem you really shouldn't wear make-up a heavy base that is because as we get older LESS is MORE ?
We look OLDER the more we're applying foundations I never wear foundation I wear a tinted mineral sunscreen everyday and I'm 55 tinted sunscreens are really the BEST to wear if you want to protect your skin from hyperpigmentation even the EXPERTS say wearing tinted is GREAT for these reasons and wearing this with a untinted sunscreen as well for extra coverage is okay I'm just not a fan of foundations they age me and they dry my skin out and during the Summertime I want my skin to look dewey and young and vibrant and I understand covering up red blotchy spots but full foundation is not for me ?
I really wish you did ALL the store brands at Walmart, Ulta and Whole Foods in their tinted and untinted most people don't want to spend over $35 for sunscreen and at $35 it better be a GOOD size anything under 2oz for the price isn't realistic I'm sorry ..?

Still have my old favorites but the Kenlo is fabulous for me mid summer. I swim for exercise & get fairytale dark so the lightest Kenlo shade is perfect for me. It's such an excellent sunscreen.
I would have wished that Angie had reviewed brands that we commonly see in stores like Neutrogena, Coppertone, etc.. I guess I will look up to see if she has reviewed them in the past. Neutrogena was my favorite until they reformulated it.

I have been using it for several years and I like it but I know you dive deep into the science of the product and I would love to hear your thoughts on this one. I have been doing research on sunscreen and the sun. Most if not all sunscreens have toxic CANCER causing ingredients. Why put all those chemicals in your body? If you monitor your sun you don't need this junk they sell. The sun has been so villainized just so we buy these toxic lotions. I'm 63 years old and dont look it. I make my own lotion for the fraction of the cost. Look up Paul Saladino "The sun exposed: Naked Tanning" and he also has a video on "How to make homemade sunscreen". If you watch the sun exposed video you will learn what causes skin cancer. Its very interesting.
The Elta MD tinted sunscreen for acne is my holy grail. I appreciate it so much – thanks for introducing me to this brand a few years ago.

I am shocked by the prices of these sunscreens, and how under performing they are! I use Vani cream, get it at Target and I can wear makeup over it. Also if you have food allergies, they are totally nut free.
I LOVE that you do these every year! May I suggest that at the end you compare this year's winner to last year's winner, the differences, and why the new one is better? I've been using the Babo Botanicals you liked last year, and I still really love it! Not sure if I need to switch now or keep using it….
Please do a review on the new Dr. Perricone's Hypoallergenic Clean Correction Calming SPF 35 Broad Spectrum Sunscreen. I was actually a product tester for this and absolutely love it.
My sister was a lifeguard in the late 60’s and got 2nd degree burns on her nose. The standard back then was plain zinc oxide and A-fil cream. They have since come out with better sunscreens but if I am going to be spending the day outside, I don’t really worry about how it looks. Despite wearing sunscreen since I was a teenager and bought the highest SPF I could find, I have already had 2 types of skin cancer starting at age 30. Fluorescent lights will cause UV damage to your skin even if you don’t spend time outdoors. Find one that works for you especially if you are very fair skin and use it everyday. Wear hats outside.

I like Drmtlgy universal tint and Vichy tinted mineral.
My main concerns when looking for mineral sunscreens is that they're free of: parabens, phthalates, fragrance, non nano particles, PEGs, octocrylene, avobenzone, and other potentially harmful ingredients that have raised concerns in scientific studies, specifically regarding potential endocrine disruptors and carcinogens.It's also worth noting that other names are often used for these ingredients. Health first, beauty second are my priorities, Since sunscreen is to be used most every day and long term, I think these are valid concerns, so I always check them. EWG has a list of their verified mineral sunscreens.
Have you tried Toty mineral sunscreen spf 50? It’s water resistant, light weight and a natural finish. It now sold on Amazon! I really enjoy it.
While I love Angie’s sunscreen reviews ???, the reviews would be more useful if they mentioned whether the sunscreen products contain silicone. Like many people, silicone additives in skin care make me break out badly. This year’s #1 pick is LOADED with multiple forms of silicone (all the ingredients containing “siloxane” or “thicone” as part of the name). I would love to find a great mineral sunscreen made without those ingredients.

Why do people trust her so much ???? A lot of her links are to Amazon. Amazon isn’t an authorized retailer of many of these sunscreens . Don’t buy a lot from Amazon do your homework .

I’m wondering how different some of the worst ones would have been if you built up the coverage verses putting it all on at once. I know I’ve seen some makeup artists apply spf that way. They put the correct measurement in one hand or on a palette and then apply the spf in layers. ?????
I’ve read that sunscreen should be applied every 2 hours to be effective. It seems if you wear make up then this is nearly impossible. Any suggestions?
